The last few days of summer are here, and we have begun to notice the chill in the morning air. The aroma of apple pie and warm baked goods is pouring out of our farm kitchen and bakery. Looking around, you notice the early leaves changing color and building up on the ground already.
But the true feel of fall really hits home when you stand just outside our farm market. Our yard and garden center are full of jack o’ lantern and specialty pumpkins, mums, asters, hay bales, corn stalks, and other fall decor.
Our field crew just finished harvesting several large bins of winter squash this past week and continues to bring back a wide variety of pumpkins and gourds.
They’ve also been busy continuing to pick our field tomatoes. The unexpected weather means that we can continue offering our canning tomato special. Get a box of “canning” tomatoes (approximately 20 pounds) picked from our fields is $35. Please call us at least 24 hours in advance to allow us time to pick your tomatoes.
We’re also continuing to pick corn. The question we hear at least six times a day is how much longer will be picking corn? We should be harvesting corn up until frost. Of course, only Mother Nature really knows when that will be!
Starting this Saturday, September 21, our corn maze opens! Get lost in our corn maze seven days a week through October 31. On the weekends, we have some fun fall fun for you, including free horse drawn wagon rides, music, games, and, on select days, face painting. Visit our events page for details.
You can also enjoy our freshly baked pies, whoopie pies and hot soup from our farm bakery and kitchen, and of course cider doughnuts from the Cider Bellies stand.
When it comes time to choose your pumpkins, choose from the many we’ve already picked, or try your hand at harvesting pumpkins from our “pick your own” pumpkin patch. We supply the clippers and have you the fun. Our pumpkin patch is open 7 days a week until mid-October.
How could I almost forget to introduce our very own “New Kids on the Block” These five young goats sure seem to have a lot to say, so be sure to come say hello!
