Jeff's farm update: Endings and beginnings at the farm

Fall sure passed quickly! It’s hard to believe it will be November in just a few days. That means it’s a “last call” for our corn maze, pumpkin picking, and walk-up service from our food truck, Moulton’s Hay Wagon. But we're also starting some things at our farm:

While the Hay Wagon will have its last “window day” this Sunday, October 29, we are pleased to announce that we will have an option for group orders on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

Simply find out what your co-workers or guests want, and place your order by phone or email no later than 10 am on the day you wish to pick up your order. The minimum order is $75. Orders can be picked up starting at noon, or check with us for delivery options. See our late fall menu here.

Despite our first killing frost Tuesday, we are still harvesting quite a bit and updating our “Now Harvesting” page daily. Lots of fresh greens field greens, Brussels sprouts, beets, and carrots from the late summer plantings are what we are currently picking from our fields in addition to the potatoes and winter squash we’ve already harvested.

The great news is that our hydroponics system is running with enough salad mix to last us well into December. This year, we are also growing tomatoes, zucchini, and summer squash in our season extending grow tunnels, so look for those in our farm market along with many varieties of apples from our partner farms.

Our farm kitchen team is busy making fresh soups and prepared meals while getting enough meat pies prepared to last until the end of the year. This is a challenging feat, considering how popular our meat pies are!

While our farm bakery team is gearing up for Thanksgiving, they are also focusing on the classic fall treat: pumpkins. Our pumpkin whoopie pies, pumpkin pies, muffins, and pumpkin trifles sure have been popular these last few weeks!

We are now taking holiday orders for pies, breads, rolls, treats, side dishes, gift baskets, and floral arrangements. We will continue to accept them until November 20 for Thanksgiving and December 22 for Christmas.

Visit our holiday foods page for more information, or ask us when you’re in our farm market.

Speaking of Thanksgiving, have you ordered your turkey yet? We have again partnered with Misty Knoll Farm to offer fresh turkeys for Thanksgiving. It has been a 20+ year partnership that allows us to provide our customers with fresh free range birds that are juicy, have excellent flavor, and are so tender. The last day to order is November 11, so don’t wait too long!

Would you like to try some of our holiday foods and a turkey from Misty Knoll? Come to our Fall Open House on Sunday, November 5, from 11 to 2. We will be sampling some of our holiday favorites, items from our pick-up catering menu, Moulton Farm ice cream, and a couple of local vendors will also showcase their products.
